IMR Students participated in the combined Annual function “VISION 2010” organised for all the academic wings at SSR Memorial Trust. IMR students presented a 35 minutes non-stop performance with the theme of Unity in Diversity (Bharat ki Jhalkiyan) representing the 4 states of India (Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Punjab). Also the students of IMR participated in the Funfair organised at the occasion of VISION 2010, students represented the Institute with a stall at the funfair organizing a few games as part of entertainment for the visitors.

Industrial Visit for MBA - I
An Industrial Visit was organised for the students of MBA 1st Year to enhance their intellectual capability with respect top the organizational set ups and workings. Students were divided into 3 groups of 20 each and they visited following companies:
- Sudhir Gensets Limited
- Reliance Industries Limited
- Alok Industries Limited
The visit was followed by a presentation by each team on their learning and experiences.

Women’s day function was celebrated at the Institute. A half an hour video was played depicting the glory of women leaders and known women personalities in India. To grace the occasion IMR Director, who is the best suited person to speak at the occasion being a successful women, addressed the students on the capabilities and success stories of the women in the society. A debate was also conducted between the students on the topic “Reservation and Women”.

Standards of Leadership: by Mr. Atul Sharma – Former HUL Sr. General Manager:
The speaker Mr. Atul has a vast experience of over 30 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). During the session of 4 hours, the speaker concentrated on the attributes of leadership. Several examples were quoted by the speaker with respect to the leadership qualities. The speaker shared his personal experiences with the students with reference to his journey at HUL.

Guest Lecture: Prof. Geeta Raybagkar
The speaker has a teaching experience of over 25 years and she has been associated with the Social work since her start of professional life. Prof. Geeta was a part of the Citizen’s Movement experienced at Lonavla and she actively participated in the social cause for upliftment of the society.
A case study was designed on the movement and it got accepted by the IIM (B). During the ONE day work shop at IMR Prof. Geeta interacted with the students referring to the details of the Case. She highlighted on the constitutional framework of the country and also gave insight on the civil laws. Her session included Role plays which brought further interest in the session.

Industry Interaction: with Mr. K. J. Modi – VP Commercial Reliance Industries Ltd.
The marketing students were given the opportunity to interact with Mr. Modi and seek his guidance. Our corporate guardian met all the Marketing students individually and successfully completed the career counseling exercise. The students have been given individual guidelines to follow and reach the desired goal.
Such sessions will be organised for all the specialisation students in their 2nd year.

SSR IMR 2nd Anniversary celebration
The Institute celebrated its 2nd anniversary on 26th Aug 2010. The occasion was celebrated with delicious cake cutting ceremony and the Director addressing the gathering. The Managing Trustee of SSR Memorial Trust Mr. Ajit Deshpande and the PRO Mr. Pankaj Sharma were the dignitaries marking their gracious presence on this occasion.
The 2nd Year students represented their respective specialisation and came up with respective Business Plan presentations. The Business Plan included the Idea of Ayurvedic Ice cream, CNG Kit for 2 wheelers, Housekeeping services and stationary item (Pen).
The effort was appreciated by all and the faculty & the guests came up with the practical feedback leading to improvement of the overall personality of the students.

Hindi Pakhwada competition organised by UT of DNH (Raj Bhasha Vibhag)
The students of SSR IMR participated in the HINDI Pakhwada competition organised by the UT of DNH (Raj Bhasha Vibhag). The competition aims towards promotion of the HINDI language.
The students of SSR IMR took benefits out of the academic aspects of the competition and participated in events like: Essay writing, Elocution competition and Poetry. Students competed and won prizes in all these events.
All such efforts lead to value addition in the knowledge of the students and develop their overall personality.

The Managing director of Kareer Krafters Company, visited the campus and addressed the students with their USA occupational programme. The MD of the organization highlighted upon the benefits of learning the American Business Culture.
The Institute also went on with the Initial discussion with respect to Students Placement through Kareer Krafters. The information and further discussion on the commercial angle of the deal is awaited.

Dr. Maduletty (National Institute of Industrial Engineering)
A One day workshop was conducted by Dr. Maduletty on Advanced Excel Techniques and Mini Tab application. The workshop was divided effectively into three parts: The first session was with entire MBA I & II highlighting the basics of Excel and its application with respect to functions used on excel. The session progressed with the MBA II students learning the Advanced excel techniques and use of statistical tools on MS-Excel. The final session was devoted to learning Minitab and further statistical applications used on MS-Excel by the Production specialization students.

New Year Celebration
The Institute celebrated the New year with cultural events and academic programmes. A Talent hunt programme was organized to gauge the talent among the students and the same lead to fantastic show where the gathering entertained by the MBA 1st year students with their talents (Songs, Dancing, Poetry, Standup comedy etc). The performers where felicitated by the faculty team. The Talent hunt programme was followed by a Quiz Show organized by MBA 1st year Students.
Following the trend of the Institute cake cutting ceremony took place and students enjoyed the snacks party. The day ended with a fantastic movie The Pursuit of Happiness. The movie was encouraging.

Road Safety Week:
SSR IMR team participated as Volunteers in the Road Safety week organized by the DNH Police Team. The students participated in the rally organized to create awareness among the citizens towards safe driving. Followed by the Rally was the awareness campaign by the students on the leading streets in the city by following the Gandhigiri and gifting Roses to the people who were violating the rules on the streets while driving. The event was captured by the media as well and the news papers next day were flooded with the appreciation for the efforts of the students.
The chief of Police, DNH appreciated the effort of the Institute as the Police team was contacted by the Institute and suggested the plan to be a part of the awareness campaign.
Such events develop the sense of responsibility in the students and lead to making a better citizen.

Social Work
SSR IMR has been active in its support towards Social work. The team had a wonderful experience on 5th Feb when they visited Primary Gujarati School, Agriwad, Silvassa and Bethesda Boys Home, Silvassa. The team distributed Sandals and Snacks Pack among the students at the school and Inmates at the Boys Home.
Cultural activities were performed by the students at the Agriwad School. Warm welcome was experienced at the orphanage as well. The team experienced the intellectual contribution of the students at the school in the form of a self made lift operating through battery.
Such activities by the students encourage them to look forward to their contribution to the society.

Rajiv Jain from Mumbai representing his own training company, had a 2 hours communication skills training with the MBA I students. The major highlights of the training were: Stress on Verbal and Non-verbal communication and personality traits like action oriented, People Oriented, Process Oriented, Idea Oriented.
MBA I Students had a good experience and their practice in this respect will make them perfect.

A One day Workshop by Moni N.S.S (Chief Dealer) – State Bank of Travancore, Mumbai on the Topic: Different Perspective of FOREX Market and Intricacies of Exchange rate Fluctuations
In the series of the personality development activities at the Institute a One day workshop was conducted for the students on 13th Feb 2011. The workshop intended towards the Financial Management aspects of the studies. The session acquainted us with the various factors affecting exchange rates and the recent trends in currency markets with special reference to major events in global markets related to Merger & Acquisition and movement of currency value (USD/INR). The session also enlightened us with the practicalities of operations of currency traders particularly in implementing hedging tools, to overcome the risk of volatility rates.
The workshop was intended for the growth of the intellectual of the students with respect to the foreign exchange market – its Theory & Practice.
The speaker created a fantastic learning environment with his experience and knowledge with respect to the topic.

Education Exhibition at Surat:
The Institute participated in a ONE day Education exhibition organized at Surat by our Training & Placement Partner “ICCP, Surat”. The Institute was represented by One faculty and FOUR students.
It was a successful visit in terms of creating awareness in Surat sector with respect to the brand SSR. Also it gave opportunity to the students to interact with the potential students & Parents. Such instances enhance public appearance & mass communication skills in the students.

Budget Review:
The Nation heard Finance Minister Pranab Mukherji presenting his Finance Budget on 28th Feb 2011. The Finance Management students at the Institute studied the entire Budget and presented a Budget review (including the Railway Budget). Such opportunity enhances the intellectual power of the students.
The review session was attended by Hon’ble Trustee Shri Ajit Deshpande and PRO Shri Pankaj Sharma.

Farewell Programme – IMR’s 2nd Batch
IMR was together to bid farewell to its 2nd batch 2009-11 on 25th March 2011. A batch of 60 students started their MBA journey on 26th Aug 2009 and they are all set to attempt their final semester exams in later April’11.
The farewell programme was hosted by the MBA 1st year team. The show was packed with cultural events, advisory speeches from Faculty & Director, followed by a passing the torch ceremony. Mr. Pratik Desai was adjudged as the most promising outgoing student. The programme continued with dance & music and got over with delicious food served for all at the Institute’s canteen.
MBA-I team in the leadership of Faculties (Mr. Bhada Mohd. Bilal and Mrs. Swati Poddar) managed the show with utmost discipline and timeliness.
